El modo subjuntivo/ Subjunctive Mood

Español / English  The subjunctive    It provokes sighs in many students. Why? Perhaps because it is a subject that takes some time to assimilate since it does not exist in other languages or its use is very limited. As I always say: "poco a poco" Little by little! "paso a paso" step by step! The word subjunctive comes from the Latin: subjunctivus which means: "that serves to put together: to join or unite ideas to express expectation or influence on something or someone. A frequent question from my students is: Is it necessary to use it? Definitely YES, because you can use it either in everyday situations or in formal ones. For example: when we say goodbye, they say: ¡Que te vaya bien! When we congratulate someone: ¡Que cumplas muchos años más, Que tengas un buen día, Espero que estás bien, and many, many more examples.
